First SODA Meeting

The first SODA meeting occurred over Zoom on January 27, 2021. This was a very exciting moment for all of the founders!

Blanket Making

SODA members made blankets to give to New England Donor Services (NEDS) on March 10, 2021. The blankets are then donated to donor recipients or organ/tissue donors.

Blanket making is a recurring activity that happens during our general meetings. This is a great time to test your craft making and make some new friends!

Fundraiser for Blue and Green Walk

A Q&A with Matt James took place over Zoom on April 9, 2021 to raise money for the annual New England Donor Services (NEDS) Blue and Green Walk.

The Blue and Green Walk allows people to build a community of people who are touched by organ and tissue donation, remember those who gave through donation, and support the mission of New England Donor Services (NEDS).

Krispy Kreme in Centennial Commons

On November 1, 2021 SODA brought Krispy Kreme donut’s for attendees listening to invited speakers. The speakers informed the attendees about facts of organ and tissue donation and spoke about their own personal stories of donation.

Colleges of the Fenway Block Party

Sophie and Andy represented SODA at the Colleges of the Fenway Block party on September 9, 2022, where organizations and clubs around the Fenway area tabled.

The Northeastern SODA E-Board has been invited at the start of each fall semester to table with New England Donor Services (NEDS) to advocate for organ and tissue donation.

First Blood Drive

December 2, 2022 the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center brought their blood mobile to Robinson Quad.

Blood drives occur each semester while we partner with local hospitals. We have worked with the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center, as well as Massachusetts General Hospital.

Organ Registration Drive

On March 13, 2023 club members hosted an organ donation registration drive. Members of the club educated students on campus and urged students to become registered organ donors.

We now aim to to a registration table during our blood drives each semester and occasionally another tabling event later in the semester.

Donor for a Donut

At the end of the fall 2024 semester we handed donuts and munchkins out to those who were organ donors. Student who wanted to register or educate themselves about organ donation also received a donut!
